The Body of Christ
Our purpose at Burwell Baptist Church is to reach people with the life-giving message of Jesus that they might become fully devoted followers of Christ. We filter every idea, program, and budget request through our purpose statement. If what we plan doesn't help us meet our purpose, then we don't do it.
A Church Without Walls
We strive to be just that, a church without walls. Jesus calls for us to go outside the walls to reach the lost and the broken. It is there that the lost will be found. Most churches find it is comfortable to stay within the walls and for the most part that is true. Our church is about the uncomfortable, doing what needs to be done to spread the word.
A Community of Believers
Together we are a community of believers. What does that mean, the word community? We believe that together in fellowship we grow closer to God and one another. The bible speaks about iron sharpening iron. We believe that together we grow stronger. We are a community of believers.

What We Believe
We believe that the goal of church is not to make people more religious but to help people fall more in love with God and therefore become more fully human. We believe that we are called to reach out to our neighbors both locally and globally and serve them in ways that make a difference. We believe that spiritual practices like prayer, reading the Bible, participating in small groups, fasting, and tithing are vital to our faith.
01
Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully God and fully man, that He was conceived and born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and sacrificed Himself to be punished in substitution for sinners.
02
God
We believe that the one true God exists eternally in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and that these, being one God, are equal in deity, power, and glory.
03
The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit regenerates and forever indwells all Christians. Either subsequently or at the same moment, Jesus Christ baptizes believers in the Holy Spirit to empower believers for ministry and witness.
04
Sin
We believe Adam was created in the image of God, righteous and without sin. In consequence of his disobedience, all people are born subject to sin and are therefore sinful by nature.
05
Salvation
We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. No ritual, work, or any other activity is required in order to be saved.
06
The Church
We believe that the church is God's primary instrument through which He is fulfilling His redemptive purposes in the earth.
Our Mission and Vision
We have a very particular mission and vision for this church. We believe that if we stick to a plan and focus on that plan that we will succeed in it. God has blessed us with a great work, and we are excited to fulfill his plans for us.
God has put in place a vision for our church. We are simply doing our very best to fulfill his wishes and obey his command.
It is our duty to fulfill Gods command. We understand that God has placed in front of us a plan of action that we need to stay the course on. We believe that we need to step outside the church walls to reach the lost and broken. God has called for our church to fellowship together, and to go and preach his word. We hope that you will join us in growing together and reaching those who need to hear about Jesus. We are gifted with very important work. Let's do our very best to accomplish what God has in store for our ministry.
